Clematis cirrhosa var. balearica 'Freckles'

BLOOMS IN WINTER!

Also known as the Fern-leafed clematis, this evergreen species, from the Balearic Islands in Spain, is quite vigorous and hardy. The pendulous, 1 1/2-inch, creamy-white flowers are speckled with maroon-brown on the inside and appear from mid-winter to spring, on long, thread-like stems. The vines may attain heights over 20-feet, and the attractive, finely-cut foliage may turn bronze in the winter. Prune immediately after flowering in spring. May be pruned only lightly, or down to about 3-feet to keep the plants under control. We prefer to leave it alone and allow it to ramble. Best grown with some protection, as better flowering comes when it is grown in a warm position. Zones 7-9.

Flowering size plant, shipped bareroot.
