(AKA Clematis cirrhosa v. ladakhiana)

Discovered in 1875 in the Ladakh district of northern India, this species is not frequently encountered in cultivation, but certainly desserves to be.

Blooming from mid summer into autumn, the single, 2" flowers have 4 tepals, with the upper sides being yellow-bronze mottled with dark red, while the undersides are paler. The anthers are reddish brown - followed by large and highly-decorative, fluffy seed heads. The attractive, ferny, bluish green foliage is divided into 5 or 7 narrow leaflets, and may be notched and serrated.

Best when grown through trees and shrubs, and may be grown in large pots. Grow in full to filtered sun (keeping the roots cool) in very well-drained soil. Hardy zones 6-9.

Shipped bareroot.
