Nepenthes Species - Tropical Pitcher Plants

Nepenthes Species
Nepenthes are our favorites among the many plants that we grow here at Hortus Botanicus. Due to our growing conditions and local weather, we mainly cultivate the intermediate to highland types, and only a limited number of the lowland species and hybrids. We import young plants from various sources abroad, and then reestablish and grow them on here. We also offer rooted cuttings of plants from our collection.

If you have questions concerning any of these plants, please feel free to contact us.

Below is a key of the temperature ranges for nepenthes:

Lowland species = Days 80º-95º F / Nights 70º-80º F (ideally above 75º.)

Intermediate species = Days 75º-90º F / Nights 60º-70º F. (ideally around 66º-67º)

Highland species = Days 70º-85º F / Nights 55º-65º F. (even lower night temps may be given, depending on the elevation of each individual species' native habitat. With some species, ie. N. villosa, receiving temperatures regularly of 41º F, and N. khasiana naturally withstanding light frost occasionally - though not a practice recommended in cultivation.)
