Pincushion Hakea
Hakea laurina
Fabulous color - in both flowers and foliage!
This decorative species is one of the most popular, for its bright red, globular flower heads with protruding white styles, which appear in autumn and winter. Forming large shrubs or small trees to 20-feet, they may have an erect or spreading habit. The stiff, gray-green foliage is also attractive, especially when the growth is just beginning, as it is vivid, silvery-gray and burgundy - excellent for foliage contrast in the garden. Frost hardy.
Grow in full sun, in well-drained soil.
We ship vigorous plants in 1-gallon pots. Will bloom in 2-3 years.
