SUN PITCHERS

Heliamphora
All of our Heliamphoras are in very limited quantity, and are divisions from mature, blooming-size plants.

A NOTE ABOUT THE WAY WE CULTIVATE HELIAMPHORA SPECIES:

All of our Heliamphoras are growing in an unheated greenhouse and, in the winter, they withstand temperatures dropping to the upper 30s at night (almost every night, for a couple of months in winter), and into the 80s during the day, with the occasional 90 degree day. The rest of the year, the night time temps are usually in the low 50s.

The plants are all grown in an open Orchid Planting Medium, in net pots and orchid pots. We grow ours on our propagation bench (with no bottom heat), and we use an automatic misting system which sprays the plants as they are just drying out, keeping them exceptionally moist, with the moss growing abundantly. The mist is sporadic throughout the day, (they resent continuous misting) - the system kind of simulates the clouds passing over them naturally.

Our plants receive full sun for most of the day, through glass (10-12' above), without shading; with the misting, they do not burn, and all display beautiful, natural coloration.

All (most) of our Heliamphoras have responded favorably to this method of culture.
