Leucadendron strobilinum
Native to damp, rocky situations, along the Cape Peninsula of South Africa, this stout shrub grows to 8'. The dark green foliage begins hairy, eventually becoming glabrous. The involucral leaves, (which look like flowers), are intense ivory-white or silvery-yellow, and shimmer in the sun. Grow in full sun and well-drained soil. Do not fertilize or disturb roots. Makes an excellent cutflower. Hardy zones 8-10.
We ship vigorous, young, seed-grown plants in 1-gallon pots. Plants should bloom within 2-3 years.
