Dendrochilum tenellum
(New Caledonia)
This wonderful little orchid just doesn't seem to look like an orchid at all; if anything, it looks just like a little clump of rush or grass, or perhaps even a fiber optic sculpture. The 10" tall plants offer profuse quantities of thin 10" stems of 1 1/2" nodding flower spikes, which sport 1/16" creamy white flowers. It may not sound impressive, and a description can't do it justice, yet it is indeed very pretty when in bloom with literally 1000s of flowers on a mature plant! Dendrochilum tenellum also happens to be among our most popular orchids! When people see our large mother plant in full bloom - which is about 2' across, they just have to get one for themselves! To the untrained eye, it looks just like a sparkling, exotic grass.
Extremely easy to grow in bright filtered light with good moisture, in cool to intermediate temperatures.
We ship blooming size plants (out of bloom, unless in season) in 2" pots or mounted.
